Why is it essential to get electric mobility (e-mobility) right? The transport sector's electrification has never been more prominent and relevant to the ongoing debate on the future of mobility. Given that the transport sector is responsible for more than one-quarter of energy-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, governments worldwide need to take ambitious steps to limit global warming and achieve the Paris Agreement's Climate Agreement's goals. Transport accounts for a large proportion of local air pollutants contributing to seven million premature deaths annually worldwide.

Can electric mobility transform the future of mobility and help countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate targets? What will it take to get it right? Led by the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), under the umbrella of the Sustainable Mobility for All partnership, a group of experts and Member organizations developed a policy framework and actionable guidance to support the transition toward electric mobility.

This event will present the findings from the newly released report, “Sustainable Electric Mobility – Building Blocks and Policy Recommendations.”  The report focuses on policy enablers to e-powered mobility solutions.  It analyzes the main barriers to electric mobility development, including two and three-wheelers; identifies seven building blocks for successful public policy in the field of electric mobility; and provides recommendations for the international development, national, and local communities.   It is part of a broader effort led by the Sustainable Mobility for All initiative to elaborate an actionable Global Roadmap of Action toward Sustainable Mobility (GRA).

A panel of experts will deep-dive on the best policy framework for an integrated and sustainable introduction of electric mobility with examples of policy conditions under which this model works. This event is open to public policymakers, transport and energy experts, researchers, and the wider public and private sector stakeholders interested in the accelerated development of sustainable electric mobility.
