Event Info

The Sustainable Mobility for All (SuM4All) partnership marks its fifth anniversary with the 12th Consortium meeting. Our celebratory journey orients to pressing uncertainties that national decision makers around the world face and must address as countries endure the effects of the pandemic, while action on climate change is much slower and complex than anticipated.  As a result, a delicate balance is emerging between two very different visions of the world: countries eager to grow their economies and transport systems for higher prosperity; and those in search of ways to respond rapidly to the climate imperative while preserving their wellbeing.

The 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Egypt this November will provide a unique opportunity to bring those two visions together, through dialogue and action.  A cardinal catalyst will be to refocus the imperative in transport around “sustainable mobility”—with decarbonization being one of the key components. This refocus will ensure that no country is left behind as solutions are being devised, financed, and implemented around the world.

Since its first meeting of member organizations in January 2017, SuM4All has played a critical role in shaping the transport agenda of the future.  Its participatory and inclusive approach all along has enabled to think and devise solutions to transport problems that are truly global. As countries begin to come out of the pandemic and meet their climate ambition, SuM4All once again offers a unique and safe space to discuss the most salient issues today in transport and ensure that no country is left behind.

SuM4All's 12th Consortium Meeting will bring together a diverse and influential group of stakeholders to reflect, brainstorm, and shape the way forward in transport for 2022, with COP27 in November in Egypt as the culmination point.  In the second part of the Meeting, Members will discuss this year’s work program, select the working group they will join for the year, and participate in the first meeting of that group.

Objectives

  • Commemorate five years of partnership and collaboration under the SuM4All umbrella
  • Engage with high-level speakers in a roundtable on inclusive pathways towards sustainable mobility in a prelude to COP27
  • Quick start the implementation of the 2022 work program including workstreams.

Event Structure and Participation

The event's biannual gathering will bring together more than 50 Member organizations and position its partnership in the runup to COP27. It will be broken down into two segments:

  • Segment 1: 5 year celebration + Roundtable discussion
  • Segment 2: Launch of the SuM4All Work Program for 2022 (including working group structure)
  • Post-event networking session

Segment 1 will be open to public policymakers, transport and energy experts, researchers, and the wider public and private sector stakeholders interested in or implementing action toward sustainable mobility. Segment 2 will be exclusive to SuM4All members.
